Great central location for exploring York and generally pleasant hotel over all. Only minor complaint was the in-house food didn't seem the best quality. Better off checking out the many restaurants in the adjoining streets.
My partner and I arrived early and receptionist Kate was very accomodating and able to sort us out with an early check-in, which was super helpful. Would stay again.

The room has everything you need. Very clean and the bathroom has all the lotions you need. The reception and bar area is very clean and inviting. Had our evening meal and were put at the back of the restaurant. The whole thing took 2hrs. I think we were forgotten as the people on the next table came after us and left before us. It wasn't even busy. Then this morning at breakfast we left our table to get toast to return to find another couple sat at our table. When I told the staff we were put on another table with an apology. Doesn't give a good impression.Didn't appreciate having to move half way through breakfast.

When you pay approx £450 for just a room for two nights, you expect a reasonable room and to be able to sleep. The room was dark and poorly ventilated and so hot and airless to the extent that I couldn’t sleep and spent two nights of misery. At 3am, I was seriously considering sleeping in my car to get some relief. The weekend was meant to be a treat but become lack of sleep and no air, it was just horrible. The hotel was full so reception said they couldn’t help. They didn’t bother to offer to unlock the window so it would open more, and at the time I didn’t know it could open more.
So not being able to breathe and literally wilting was my problem then!! They seemed to think this is what I’d paid for. I asked for a fan which just blew hot air and dust around. The bathroom fan was on a timer so it only comes on for a short period twice a day, which added to the stuffiness and made having a shower almost impossible. I felt exhausted and ill driving back due to lack of sleep. When I complained, they wanted me to spend more money and come back again so that they could make sure I would have the restful and pleasant experience that I’d already paid for and didn’t get. I couldn’t believe they thought that me spending more money and coming back would makes amends. Not the service you’d expect from Hilton and for such a high price too.

The level of service, comfort and attention to detail is everything you’d expect from a Hilton hotel. The rooms are not large but they are comfortable. No mini-fridges - tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. The bed is sturdy yet soft, the walls and floors are quite thick so you’d be unlucky to be disturbed by the neighbours. The bathroom has a small bath and shower with satisfying water pressure. The toiletries are provided by refillable bottles, which I appreciated as it cuts down on plastic waste so don’t expect to take home any shampoo or soap minis. We checked in and out via the Hilton Honors app, which made everything run smoothly without any human interaction. After a long journey that was actually quite a relief! But staff are on hand if you need anything. There’s a small on-site gym with treadmills and weights. If you book a room with a view you’ll get historic, close views of Clifford’s Tower (nicknamed the pork pie in the medieval age when it functioned as a castle keep). If you do ascend the newly-refurbished Clifford’s Tower you’ll learn that the Hilton sits on a site previously used as a monastery housing 50+ monks. That building is long gone and this quite small Hilton has a modernised Victorian appearance with delightfully characterful arched windows. We enjoyed our two-night stay here and appreciated the help and comfort provided.

We were so disappointed with this hotel. We had booked a deluxe king room with a tower view for 2 nights. With fees, this cost us just over £700. Our room was very basic and tired. I have never felt more ripped off and such a waste of money. We could have paid far less than half this cost and stayed in a room with better amenities and more luxury at a budget chain hotel.
Our view of the tower didn't exist and instead all we could see was a massive tree. Now I appreciate this isn't the Hiltons fault, however they should not offer this room as a tower view at a higher cost.
The window let in all sorts of noises and wind. We hardly slept due to the noise coming in from the street. The toilet door was chipped around all the edges and peeling. The only positive thing I can say is the bed was fabulous.
We just feel so cheated as this was not the Hilton standard that we have come to love. We would advise if you choose to stay at this hotel that you get the cheapest room available because it really is NOT worth the money.
