Great stay as always even during renovation. The check-in was flawless and staff attentive to my needs. The elevator conditions isn't an issue. I barely knew renovation was happening. I was on the fourth floor while work wad happening on third. I love the new looking rooms. I slept quite well in medium firm bed. No issue with breakfast I like the variety each morning especially the biscuit and gravy. Kudos to Ms. Sonia, Mr. Demarcus and Ms. Josephine professional as always.

I'm very fond of the Holiday Inn Express brand so this review is difficult to write.
First, the good things: there's a shuttle to the airport, free WiFi, and complimentary breakfast.
More importantly, the not-so-good things:
*Our room didn't have a telephone (we looked in the drawers), so in order to contact the front desk, I had to do a google search for the phone number.
*The back side of the bathroom door had obvious water damage; the laminated part of the door had split apart from the wood and was peeled back a few inches.
*The beds were hard--not what I've experienced before at other Holiday Inn Express hotels.
*The hallways smelled faintly of urinal cakes (according to my spouse).
*The only luggage cart we could find had a broken axle on one of the wheels and the wheel ended up falling off. The front desk associate couldn't (or didn't know how to) fix it, so we had to navigate the cart precariously to/from the elevator with just the three wheels.
*The IHG app filters this hotel into searches specifying an airport shuttle, but the hotel’s website states that there is no airport shuttle. Very confusing and worrying, since I booked the hotel last-minute (for a nonrefundable room) assuming that the app was correct and then a family member pointed out the conflicting information on the website. I alerted the front desk associate of the issue.
*The airport shuttle runs only once an hour at the top of the hour, which didn't end up working for us and we had to take alternative transportation.
If we're ever in need of a hotel near the Tampa airport in the future, I'll look for other hotel options first before returning here.

Rooms were beautiful and clean.
Service at check in great.
Location is a 10.
Why 1 star? Noise. The walls are paper thin. The room next to ours had a woman talking so loud on the phone and then a man came in and was equally as loud. People screaming at eachothwr in the hallway. People slamming doors. So if you want to come and not sleep....this is the place for you. It is now 11:12 PM. I need to be up at 3am for an early flight. The construction of these rooms must be the problem. No soundproofing at all. Will not be back...pay a few bucks more and stay next door at the Westin.
The reason I did not contact the front office about the issue is I know they would have said they would change our room and there was no way I was packing everything up and moving. It is now 11:24 and things have calmed down...but for how long?

Hotel is under renovation. Room was clean and fine, but the elevator isn't working and we had to walk up to the third floor. Staff was friendly, but the hotel seemed understaffed. Breakfast was late due to an employee not showing up.

Hotel is currently under renovation, heads up on that. They start work every day at 9 AM, even Sunday. All guests are sent to the same floor I think and the walls are paper thin.
Staff in the breakfast room was rude but checking in was a breeze.
I've stayed in worse but not for this price.
