Top notch hospitality. The sisters who own the hotel are very nice and work hard to make you comfortable.
The best rooms are on the south side of the hotel so you get a view of the mountains. There is a train that comes and goes according to a schedule but it is electric and very quiet. There is a mix of European and small western (American) style showers, so it is a good idea to specify when you check in if that matters to you. There is no air conditioning but the windows and doors in the room open and there are crank down external shades once you find the hand crank on the side of the window seal.
The bar has a limited selection of spirits and beer, but you can cross the street to The Old Monk to a fully stocked European bar. Carmon was one of the best bartenders on our trip working there. She uses good prosecco in the Aperol spritz and she is very nice.
Take a walk around the town and you will find a cloister that the city was built around. Also less than 100 yards from the front door of the hotel is one of the best stocked souvenir shops I saw while in Switzerland.
I was sad to leave and would love to come back for a much longer stay.

Fantastic hotel in the center of Engelberg. Can’t recommend it highly enough, spotlessly clean, warm and extremely and caring staff. Dinner in restaurant was good. Rooms comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
