While we hate picking favourites here at NearU, it's hard not to acknowledge that there are some spaces on our platform that just stand out. Beyond offering the basic requirements of fast wifi, ergonomic furniture and a variety of space, some go well above the standard to become more than just an office. And that's what this new series is all about.
We want to shine a light on some of the most Spectacular Spaces our platform has to offer. Starting with a fan favourite. Missionworks in Hammersmith, London.
Missionworks, Hammersmith
We've talked about these guys before in our workspace guide to Hammersmith, but they truly deserve a stand alone piece. An indoor jungle, Missionworks offers over 7000-square feet of space, spread across coworking areas, breakout lounges, meeting rooms and even a veranda overlooking the whole ground floor. Beyond that, they provide wellbeing treatments and yoga classes, amongst other events, on-site to help promote a healthy body as well as a productive mind.
We recently sat down with their wonderful Community Manager, Rebeca Toro, who told us everything we needed to know about Missionworks.
Tell us about yourself and your role at the space? How long have you been there?
Rebeca: I am a super active and energetic person and I think this is the perfect combination for my job. I am the face of Missionworks, the one who knows everything and who everybody knows, and I love it! You have to know how to keep the plates spinning. I've been here since the beginning, from being just myself in the space to having the amazing teams I have at the moment. I'm responsible for the building, budget, sales, events, operations, it's a super complete job!
We think your space is pretty unique. But in your own words, tell us what makes your coworking space stand out from the rest?
We are not a conventional space, the building is unique - who can say that they work from a church every day, isn't that cool? The space has a unique atmosphere. From the biophilic design with over 200 plants to the natural light coming through the stained windows, it is simply magical. Our events focus on the well-being of our members - socialising with the rest of the community is the cherry on top.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I can develop many professional skills as I am involved in many departments and I own some of them (like social media) and I like that very much! Also, being in contact with people is what I like the most in my job - engaging and creating connections among people is my must!
If you could add any feature to your ideal coworking venue, what would it be? Think as out-of-the-box as possible.
A robot that takes the mugs away and puts them in the dishwasher.
What’s one piece of advice you wish all coworking hosts followed?
You are human, you also get tired and sometimes you don't feel like talking and that's ok. If one day you are not well say it, and if you are happy share it with others! Don't be hard on yourself - you are doing well!
