Surely we've all dreamed of giving up our responsibilities and relocating somewhere sunny at some point in our lives? After all, there's only so much the average person can take of being chained to a desk 9-to-5 in a dingy office.

But as remote and hybrid work takes off around the world, more and more employers are allowing their staff the freedom to make their dreams of a seaside work-ation a reality. A recent survey by Ivanti found that a whopping 71% of employees would prefer the ability to work-from-anywhere over getting promoted within their company. Perhaps flexibility is the new career progression.

Working-from-anywhere is not something hugely radical and new. Digital nomads have been doing it for decades, taking advantage of cheap rent in certain parts of Europe, the Caribbean, Asia, and other historically non-commercial areas to work online. Plenty of hugely successful companies have also been fully onboard with the work-from-anywhere train since before the pandemic, like GitLab, Doist, and Zapier, proving being in-person doesn't equal higher productivity.
