Lola works as a Brand Partnerships Manager in London for the influencer marketing agency, Fanbytes. Like many others, she was faced with starting this new job during lockdown, meaning she only ‘met’ her colleagues through a computer screen, and her home ‘office’ was less than satisfactory.

“I share a house with two other people and working from home during the pandemic was challenging at times due to space and lack of privacy for confidential meetings,” she told us.

“At times I felt isolated and really missed the culture of office life and socialising. So Fanbytes told me about NearU, and I used it to find workspaces where I could meet up with my new workmates. The first one I used was just five minutes’ walk away from my home at the Idea Space in Clapham. Because a lot of the team work in East London, I also use the Worker’s League co-working space in Shoreditch (see below).

“Now once a week or once a fortnight, a few of us catch up and work in Shoreditch. The commute is easy and I'm finding the experience very pleasant, especially on a Thursday when the drinks trolley arrives. I feel much more aligned with the company now.

“NearU is a brilliant idea because we’re all living our lives flexibly and if we want to work together in person and meet up, we just book a day space for £15. No contract, no commitment.”
