I thought I would never need a shared workspace, but after working at home for a month, I found it so depressing and my productivity went down. Working at the local library did not seem to work; it just did not have the community. They do a great job with creating a community feel, the pizza meals, cooking sessions, quizzes and so on are great. Even for people who don’t want to take part in those things, it creates a different atmosphere that breaks the ice between everybody there. After going there for a few weeks people started to realise I was becoming a fixture, say hi and the place really opens up. The reason it works is the staff are so open and friendly with everyone; it breaks the ice and opens up the community feel. They are more expensive than other places, but in the long run I have found the service to be worth it. Most people there are under 30 so middle aged people may feel a bit old, but it still works.
