While not a suburb in itself, London's famous Marble Arch, which sits adjacent to Mayfair and Marleybone, has come to lend its name to the surrounding area since its inception in the 19th century. 

Originally built in 1827 by architect, John Nash, as a state entrance to Buckingham Palace, the Arch was relocated to its current site in 1851, where it now fulfils a slightly less grand purpose as the centre of a roundabout.

The building, which dates back to the Georgian Era, was once home to Martin Van Buren, the 8th President of the United States.
