Terrible Beatles puns aside, here are five of the best flexible workspaces in and around Liverpool you can book using NearU right now.
For coffee-drinkers: Liverpool Clockwise - from £15pp
Primely located on the waterfront of the Albert Dock, you'll find Clockwise. One of twelve locations across the UK, their Liverpool office is a sight to be behold. Housed inside a Grade I listed building (which as of 2014 was actually named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site), this space has been renovated to the high standard you'd expect on our platform. Combining exposed brickwork with modern industrial features gives the space a sleek look, perfect for anyone looking for a professional office with a unique twist.
Facilities include their club lounge, six meeting rooms for up to 20 people, breakout areas and event spaces ideal for hosting panels or conferences. You're also sure to never go hungry (or thirsty) thanks to their on-site coffee shop, Two Hands Cafe, which serves hot and cold food and drink all day!
Also on the waterfront, find AvenueHQ's Mann Island office! This workspace has more of a vibrant, airy feel to it, with tons of natural light pouring through floor to ceiling windows into their coworking lounge. We might bang on about the importance of a well-lit workspace here at NearU, but it's for good reason. A study by Future Workplace found that over 1/3 of surveyed employees wanted better access to natural light during the working day, the benefits of which were numerous. From improving sleep patterns by adding an extra 46 minutes per night, to enhancing mood triggered by the production of serotonin, there's nothing natural light can't aid.
Beyond this, Mann Island is a fully-equipped space with an abundance of common areas, meeting rooms, phone booths and even a boardroom to choose from. Plus, they're a dog-friendly workplace! What could be better than finishing off that report while simultaneously feeding treats to a good boy under the desk? There's a reason why dog therapy exists you know.
Take a walk along the Royal Albert Dock
Working at either Mann Island or Clockwise gives you easy access to one of Liverpool's most iconic tourist attractions; the Royal Albert Dock. Designed by architect and engineer Jesse Hartley and Philip Hardwick, the world heritage site was opened in 1846 by it's namesake, Prince Albert. It's best known for its role in maritime history, and today it plays home to such attractions as the Tate, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum.
Being within walking distance of such establishments means there's no excuse not to soak up a bit of history on your lunch break. A lesser known fact about the city is the major (and also devastating) role it played in the Slave Trade. From the 1730s well into the early 19th century, Liverpool was one of Europe's busiest ports, reaching a peak in the two decades before slavery's abolition in 1807, as over 120 ships set off for Africa annually. It's a horrific fact, but a part of British history that is important to share as we begin to re-tell stories of the UK's historic role in colonialism.
For corporates: AvenueHQ St Paul's Square - from £20pp
Their second Liverpool location is just a stone's throw from the first, with AvenueHQ St Paul's Square being slightly more city-central in the commercial district.
As you might expect, this space has a more corporate feel, with plenty of larger meeting room and boardroom facilities on offer, making it the perfect location to impress that client you're trying to secure. Of course, they also have a number of flexible desks for getting your day-to-day work done.
For a community feel: Coworking @ Liverpool Film Studios - from £12pp
A little further outside city centre find Liverpool Film Studios, an independent provider perfect for anyone living in commuter belt locations like Bootle and Everton. While this space is a little smaller than some of our other Liverpool locations, it presents a perfect opportunity to really get to know your co-workers, whether that's internal or external to your company.
Here at NearU, we're passionate about boosting socialisation and collaboration at work, especially as the world moves increasingly online. During the first lockdown when the majority of office workers began working-from-home, 46% of employees experienced feelings of loneliness and isolation. Improving communication, both in-person and online, can also boost overall company productivity by 25%. So a smaller space might actually be the answer to a more thriving community.
Grab a drink at the Cavern Pub
Of course, this workspace guide to Liverpool wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Cavern Pub. This iconic establishment has played host to some of the biggest names in rock music, from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Oasis and more. Plus, unlike it's partner venue which sits just across the street, the Cavern Pub is free to enter, making it the perfect spot to grab a drink and listen to some spontaneous live music with your workmates after a long day.
For occasional commuters: BizHub Liverpool - from £20pp*
Another option you'll find just outside Liverpool centre in Bootle in Biz Hub. This space is ideal for workers who might need to commute on occasion, as it's just next door to Bootle Oriel train station, which can get you into the city centre in just a few minutes. However, they also have ample free parking if you're more of a driver. The office itself is also super smart and sleek, equipped with a 12 person meeting room perfect for holding a brainstorm.
BizHub are proud to be fully wheelchair accessible. Before the pandemic opened up a host of opportunities for disabled workers, disability employment rates were at an extreme low of 53.7% for 2020 (compared to 82% for non-disabled people). The flexibility to work-from-home, or work-near-home in this case, was a lifeline for many who had previously been unable to work due to inaccessible commutes, over-stimulating office spaces, or inflexible work schedules that clashed with vital appointments. As such, finding an accessible space nearby could provide that all important work-life balance while still enabling disabled employees to fit work around their schedules.
